Paul Rodgers announced he will not perform at Bad Company's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band, formed in 1973 by Rodgers along with Simon Kirke, Mick Ralphs, and Boz Burrell, is being honored for their influential contributions to rock music.
Throughout the decades, Bad Company created many hits, including:
They have sold over 40 million albums and gained a worldwide fan base. The induction ceremony took place on November 8th.
Rodgers shared a message on Instagram explaining his absence:
“My hope was to be at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony and to perform for the fans, but at this time I have to prioritize my health. I have no problem singing, it’s the stress of everything else. [Drummer] Simon [Kirke] along with some outstanding musicians will be stepping in for me — guaranteed to rock.”
Rodgers' decision came unexpectedly given the significance of the event for artists seeking this recognition, especially with the ceremony only days away.
Simon Kirke expressed gratitude for younger artists covering Bad Company's music on the new tribute album Can’t Get Enough.
