H-1B Fee Hike by Trump Challenged in Court
Two lawsuits are contesting the new $100,000 fee for the H-1B skilled worker visa program, which is processed by Citizenship and Immigration Services.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is suing the Trump administration to block the addition of the fee, arguing it is "unlawful and misguided".
A separate challenge has been made by the American Association of University Professors and a coalition of labor unions, healthcare providers, schools, and religious organizations, who argue the new fee has
"already thrown employers, workers, and federal agencies into chaos".
Both lawsuits aim to block President Donald Trump's Sept. 19 proclamation modifying the H-1B program, the primary avenue for hiring skilled foreign workers in the U.S.
