Russia Accidentally Shoots Down Own Su-30SM Fighter Jet

According to Ukrainian Naval Forces intelligence, a Russian Su-30SM fighter jet was shot down by its own air defenses while attempting to repel a Ukrainian drone strike in occupied Crimea.

The russian aircraft was on a mission in northwestern temporarily occupied Crimea. It apparently crashed for unknown reasons. It is likely that the enemy shot down their own multirole fighter while countering a UAV strike with air defense systems.

The incident was confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Naval Forces, based on radio intercepts showing both engines of the Su-30SM catching fire, forcing the crew to eject.

Earlier, spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk noted that another Russian plane was lost over Crimea.
