GIRLS GOLF: Dakota’s Monteith keeps rising charts with a bullet

Girls Golf: Dakota's Monteith Continues to Rise

Marissa Monteith, a junior at Macomb Dakota, has made significant strides in golf since her eighth-grade year. Her parents gave her an ultimatum: if she quit softball, she had to play another school sport.

"My grandpa lives on a golf course and I've played golf for fun growing up. I guess I was pretty good at it, but never really took it seriously,"

Monteith recalled, noting she didn't take golf seriously until high school. She tried out for the golf team, and despite the coach not knowing her initially, she persevered.

"My parents said there was no way I would just sit around after school and not do anything,"

she added, expressing her own determination to stay active.
