More than 100 Calgary police and bylaw officers took part in a focused enforcement operation in the city's downtown on Wednesday. The effort targeted enhancing safety in high-priority areas through strategic patrols, enforcement, and community support.
Called Operation Order, the initiative redeployed officers from other parts of Calgary to strengthen enforcement downtown. It combined police, community safety, and transit peace officers working together to enforce bylaws and criminal laws related to drug activity and violence.
The city described the operation's aim as:
“Enhance public safety in priority areas downtown through strategic patrols, focused enforcement, community outreach, and referrals to support services.”
During the day, officers were actively patrolling and connecting vulnerable individuals with support resources.
