The Bafta-winning actress has been making a mark with a series of precise, unflinching performances, establishing herself as a compelling talent to watch.
Aimee Lou Wood approaches both life and craft with blunt honesty. When asked about her well-being, she admits, "I have to take some time to myself or my mind will explode." She explains, "I turn everything in on myself and get so spirally – a lot of that is repressed rage..."
This openness is reflected in her performances and the characters she brings to life on screen and stage.
"I was really lucky to have this fantastic teacher at Rada who would always say, 'Just tell the truth. All of the other stuff will come, but just tell the truth,'" Wood recalls. "I’m not sure I know any other way to act."
Her most recent part as Chelsea in season three of The White Lotus showcased her infectiously good-natured character and earned her the award for Television Actress.
Unlike previous British actors on the series, she retained her Manchester accent. Though she auditioned with a California twang, the creator Mike White was so impressed with her natural dialect that he rewrote the character’s backstory.
Author's summary: Aimee Lou Wood captivates audiences worldwide through her sincere performances, grounded in emotional truth and a unique voice that defies convention.
