Brantford councillors endorse "critically important" infrastructure project

Brantford Councillors Approve Key Infrastructure Project

Brantford city councillors have endorsed a major infrastructure initiative involving the installation of water and wastewater pipelines beneath Highway 403 near the Oak Park Road interchange. The multi-million dollar project is viewed as a vital step for the city’s economic growth.

Mayor Kevin Davis emphasized that the land north of Highway 403, which includes a former gravel pit, is among the few sites in southern Ontario ready for industrial use once utility lines are in place.

“It’s the kind of land that 20 years ago you would see an auto assembly plant on,” said Davis during the November 4 committee meeting. “It’s that large and that significant to both the future of our community and southern Ontario.”

Davis added that when trade conditions with the United States stabilize, Brantford could become a key destination for substantial industrial investment.

“We’d be a prime candidate for that investment,” he noted.
