Bo Bichette predicted to ditch Blue Jays, sign huge deal with AL powerhouse

Bo Bichette Predicted to Leave Blue Jays for AL Powerhouse

The Toronto Blue Jays narrowly missed winning the World Series this season, falling just one game and one run short against the Los Angeles Dodgers. As they look ahead, this offseason will be crucial for the team's future.

Star shortstop Bo Bichette is entering free agency and is expected to command a contract close to $200 million. Sports analyst Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report projects that Bichette may sign with the Detroit Tigers this offseason.

Detroit Tigers Eyeing Big Infield Addition

Reuter noted that the Tigers had previously targeted Alex Bregman but ended up signing Gleyber Torres on a one-year, $15 million deal. With Bregman likely leaving this winter, the Tigers could pursue him again or focus on another infielder like Bichette.

“Bo Bichette does not turn 28 years old until March 5, and after a down year in 2024, he returned to elite form offensively this season with a .311/.357/.483 line that included 44 doubles, 18 home runs and 94 RBI in 139 games.”

Bichette’s performance establishes him as a potential $200 million player this winter. Although the Blue Jays have the financial means to retain him, it is uncertain if they will match or exceed that valuation.

Offseason Decisions Will Shape Blue Jays’ Future

The outcome of free agency and whether Bichette remains with Toronto or signs elsewhere will significantly impact the Blue Jays' trajectory in the coming years.
