The New York Yankees may see a major shakeup in their outfield for the upcoming season. Last year’s outfield featured Cody Bellinger in left field, Trent Grisham in center field, and Aaron Judge in right field. However, both Bellinger and Grisham are set to become free agents and might sign with other teams.
MLB insider Kerry Miller from Bleacher Report connected the Los Angeles Dodgers with signing Trent Grisham this offseason. Grisham, a two-time Gold Glove center fielder, recently had a career-best power hitting season, raising his profile among free agents.
“If they’re looking to sign a one-year solution until at least one of the outfield prospects is ready in 2027, the best option is probably just bringing back Michael Conforto at what would presumably be a discounted rate in the aftermath of his tough year,” Miller wrote.
“But maybe they instead pursue a multi-year deal with a 28-year-old, two-time Gold Glove center fielder fresh off the most homer-happy season of his career, by far. Grisham looked like a non-tender candidate one year ago. But he has quite unexpectedly become maybe the third-most coveted outfielder in this free agent class, behind only Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger.”
Grisham would likely become the Dodgers' starting center fielder and strengthen their offense, which showed inconsistency during the World Series. The 29-year-old earned $5 million in 2025 and is expected to command a higher salary in free agency after hitting 34 home runs and tallying 74 RBIs this season.
With Bellinger and Grisham entering free agency, the Dodgers are among the leading teams interested in Grisham, potentially reshaping both teams' outfields next season.
