Saginaw, Mich. – The Saginaw Spirit were defeated 6-2 by the Brantford Bulldogs at the Dow Event Center Sunday night.
The Bulldogs took an early lead when Layne Gallacher assisted Zack Sandhu by sending a rebound past Saginaw’s goaltender Stepan Shurygin, with Ben Danford earning a secondary assist. This goal came just 1:40 into the first period.
Brantford’s Adam Benak then scored on the power play, beating Shurygin low blocker side after a shot from the point. Jake O’Brien and Adam Jiricek provided assists, pushing the Bulldogs’ lead to 2-0 at 7:39 in the first period.

Saginaw’s Nikita Klepov responded with a backhand shot goal in the slot at 4:42, assisted by Egor Barabanov and Graydon Jones, cutting the Bulldogs’ lead in half.
