Manchester United remain unbeaten in their last four Premier League matches but could only manage a draw against Nottingham Forest, with Benjamin Sesko struggling to make an impact.
Following his summer transfer from RB Leipzig for £74 million, Sesko has scored two goals and provided one assist in ten league appearances. Manager Ruben Amorim appears to be gradually integrating the 22-year-old Slovenian striker into the team.
Before the international break, Sesko showed signs of improvement with goals against Brentford and Sunderland. However, his performance against Nottingham Forest was underwhelming.
"I'm no further forward with him. The jury is out," Neville said to NBC Sports after the Forest draw. "He's well off it compared to the other summer signings that Man United made up front in [Matheus] Cunha and [Bryan] Mbeumo.
He looks awkward, he had a couple of really good opportunities in the first half - when balls got played over the top and his touch wasn't quite right. For £80 million, you can say he's young, or has a lot of potential and he's only just settling in, but you still want to see a bit more."
Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Lineker agreed with Neville's view. He noted that Cunha and Mbeumo have adapted more smoothly to Amorim’s style, whereas Sesko has only shown glimpses of his potential.
"I would say they are slightly better. I think they are moving in the right direction," Lineker commented.
Both football experts acknowledge Sesko's potential but remain cautious about his current performances, especially when compared to other recent signings.
