Bo Bichette remains firm in his wish to continue his career in Toronto. Following the Blue Jays’ heartbreaking Game 7 World Series defeat to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night, the shortstop once again voiced his loyalty to the team that drafted him in 2016.
“I’ve said I want to be here from the beginning,”
Bichette stated after the game. His three-run homer against Shohei Ohtani in the third inning nearly made him a franchise legend, but the Dodgers’ late rally ended Toronto’s title hopes.
The 27-year-old two-time All-Star had missed the Blue Jays’ ALDS and ALCS runs due to a knee injury from early September. Though sidelined for much of the postseason, he returned for the World Series, switching to second base to rejoin the lineup. Bichette finished the series 8-for-23 with six RBIs and an impressive .922 OPS versus Los Angeles.
“I'll remember this group forever,”
“I think this group taught me what a team is. It’s probably the most valuable lesson of my career, so they mean a ton to me.”
After an uneven 2024 season marked by injury struggles, Bichette rebounded in 2025 with a strong showing. Over 139 regular-season games, he recorded a .311 batting average, .357 on-base percentage, and .483 slugging percentage, along with 18 home runs, 94 RBIs, and 181 hits.
Bichette reaffirmed his intention to remain with the Blue Jays, reflecting on loyalty, lessons from his teammates, and his resilient comeback after injury.
