For days, news reports, social media, and personal conversations were filled with reflections on Charlie Kirk’s assassination and his extraordinary memorial service. Decision spoke with Hutz Hertzberg, who heads Turning Point Education, part of Kirk’s organization Turning Point USA (TPUSA), to share insights about Kirk’s character and the spiritual impact since his passing.
“His relationship with Jesus Christ was the most important thing in his life,” said Hertzberg, whose ministry experience spans over 45 years and includes associations with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Wheaton College, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, The Moody Church, and Christian Heritage Academy.
Hertzberg recalled receiving frequent text messages from Kirk containing Scripture verses as he headed to work. Despite his demanding schedule, Kirk reached out to others, even during important events, to offer help and support.
“As busy as Charlie was—and he was as busy as any person that I’ve ever been close to or knew—he would turn his devices off and not take calls from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. [It] was obviously a priority for him to love his wife, to love his children,”
This demonstrated Kirk’s commitment to Biblical priorities and his dedication to protecting his family life amidst a hectic workload.
Kirk’s example of balancing leadership, faith, and family continues to inspire those who knew him and many beyond.
Summary: Charlie Kirk's steadfast faith and dedication to family defined his legacy, showing a rare balance of leadership, service, and personal devotion.
