During the second T20I at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia’s hard-hitting batter Tim David and India’s leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy shared a humorous moment. In the ninth over, as Chakravarthy prepared to bowl his third over, David played a subtle mind game by pulling away from the delivery.
In response, Chakravarthy cheekily backed off just before releasing the ball, causing amusement among commentators and fans.
The incident occurred after India captain Suryakumar Yadav handed the ball to Chakravarthy. With Josh Inglis taking a single on the first ball, India’s short leg fielder Tilak Varma was brought in to apply pressure on David, who had just arrived at the crease.
“The batter pulled away, and Chakravarthy also backed down from delivering the ball,” the footage shows.
David managed to take a single off the first ball from Chakravarthy but was soon dismissed by him later in the same over. Known for his powerful hitting, David faced only two deliveries and scored a single before getting caught.
Varun Chakravarthy ended with impressive figures of 4-0-23-2, claiming wickets of both Tim David and Travis Head. However, his efforts could not prevent Australia from securing a 1-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.
Mitchell Marsh won the toss and chose to bowl first, sending the Indian team to bat.
