Ethan Hawke recently shared his enthusiasm for collaborating with Taylor Swift. During his first visit to Miami on November 2, he received the Miami Film Festival’s Variety Virtuoso Award and reflected on his extensive career in an interview with Variety co–editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh.
Hawke recalled working with Hollywood icons such as Robert De Niro, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ben Stiller, and Julia Stiles. However, he particularly brightened when discussing the reunion with his Dead Poet’s Society co-star Josh Charles for Swift’s music video for "Fortnight," which also featured Post Malone.
The music video, written and directed by Taylor Swift, was made possible through Hawke's daughter, Maya Hawke. He explained how it happened:
“My daughter is creating opportunities in my life. I get a text from my daughter saying ‘Hey dad, Taylor Swift wants your number.’ So I guess they met. And anyway, Taylor Swift is a ‘Dead Poet’s Society’ fan, and so, hell, I’ll take what I can get.”
Hawke expressed high praise for Swift’s creative talent, calling her a “force of nature.” This compliment coincided with Swift making headlines again with a new version of her No. 1 hit from The Life of a Showgirl.
Author's summary: Ethan Hawke expresses admiration for Taylor Swift, highlighting their collaboration and praising her as an extraordinary creative force in the industry.
