On Thursday, a White House press conference was briefly disrupted when a man fainted in the Oval Office during President Donald Trump’s announcement about a new deal with drug manufacturers aimed at reducing the cost of obesity medications.
The incident was caught on video and quickly circulated online. Independent journalist Eric Daugherty, who shared the clip, reported:
“A man just passed out during President Trump’s Oval Office announcement. Oz SPRUNG into action and assisted him.”
He later added,
“Pray for him.”
Many social media users echoed that sentiment, expressing hopes for the man’s recovery as the video feed was abruptly cut short. Early online speculation identified the individual as Gordon Findlay, alleged to be an executive at Novo Nordisk.
However, the pharmaceutical company denied that the person involved was one of their employees, releasing a statement to clarify the situation:
“CEO Mike Doustdar and EVP, US Operations, Dave Moore were the only two Novo Nordisk representatives in the Oval Office. We hope the gentleman who suffered a medical incident today is okay,” the company said to Newsweek.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later provided further information, explaining:
“During the Most Favored Nations Oval Office Announcement, a representative with one of the companies fainted.”
During President Trump’s drug pricing announcement, a participant fainted, causing brief confusion; Novo Nordisk confirmed the individual was not their employee.
