Channel Nine faces a significant change with the sudden departure of beloved weathergirl Livinia Nixon from 9News Melbourne. After 20 years presenting the weather, Livinia has announced she will step back to prioritize her family.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
She mentioned her two sons, Henry and Ted, highlighting the importance of family at this stage of her life.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
Livinia joined the Nine network in 1997, gaining popularity through her appearance on Hey Hey It’s Saturday alongside game show veteran Daryl Somers. Although stepping back from weather presenting, she will remain with Nine and continue her work on popular travel programs.
“I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
This move marks the end of an era for Nine’s weather team but promises new chapters in her career at the network.
Livinia Nixon is stepping back from her 20-year role as Nine’s weather presenter to focus on her family, while continuing her work on other network programs.
