9News Melbourne will say goodbye to one of its biggest stars this month as Livinia Nixon, the city's beloved weather presenter, signs off on November 18.
Livinia Nixon joined the network in 1997 and has been the 9News Melbourne weather presenter since 2004. At 50 years old, she announced her surprising decision to leave the role on Friday, choosing to focus on her family as her sons start senior school.
"After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I've decided to step back from this role," Nixon said. "My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It's been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers' homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family."
She added that presenting the weather has significantly shaped her life and career, expressing gratitude for the opportunity.
"I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me," she said. "When I discussed it with our boys, they said, 'We're pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.'"
Though Livinia is stepping down from her role as the weeknight weather presenter, she will remain with the Nine Network.
