After two decades as the weather presenter for 9News Melbourne, Livinia Nixon has announced she will be stepping down from this position. Her final weather bulletin is scheduled for Tuesday, 18 November.
Livinia joined the Nine Network in 1997 and began presenting the weather on 9News Melbourne in 2004. She chose to leave the nightly weather role to focus on her family, especially as her two sons enter their senior years of high school.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them,” Nixon said.
She expressed gratitude for her long-standing connection with viewers:
“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
While Livinia is leaving the weather desk, she will remain with Nine, continuing her roles on popular travel shows Getaway and Postcards.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” she shared.
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
“I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
