Prince Harry has rejected claims that he intentionally sought to overshadow Prince William by revealing his upcoming visit to Canada at the same time his brother arrived in Brazil for the Earthshot Prize tour.
The clash was described as “predictable” by a royal expert.
However, a spokesman for the Duke of Sussex dismissed the idea that Harry’s timing was part of any sibling rivalry. He explained that the overlap resulted from logistical constraints connected to Harry’s limited security arrangements.
“He is not afforded the same level of security and protection as other working members of the Royal Family. This means the timeframe in which we can release event details is far shorter than for His Majesty the King or the Prince of Wales,” the spokesman said.
The Prince of Wales arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Monday to celebrate the fifth anniversary of his environmental initiative, the Earthshot Prize. While William began his first engagement at Sugarloaf Mountain, Harry’s team in California announced his upcoming trip to Canada ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
Prince Harry dismissed media claims of rivalry with Prince William, explaining that logistical security reasons—not competition—caused the timing of their overlapping public events.
