In his memoir We Did It, Kid, Sir Anthony Hopkins extends a deeply personal message to his estranged daughter, Abigail Hopkins. The 87-year-old Academy Award-winning actor uses the book to express his hope for reconciliation after years of separation.
Hopkins recently discussed their difficult relationship during a New York Times interview while promoting his memoir. He revealed that a recent effort to reconnect, initiated by his current wife Stella Arroyave, went unanswered.
"My wife, Stella, sent an invitation [to Abigail] to come and see us," Hopkins explained. "I wish her well, but I'm not going to waste blood over that. If you want to waste your life being in resentment, fine, go ahead."
Anthony shares Abigail with his first wife, Petronella Barker, whom he separated from in 1972.
Contrasting his earlier remarks, Hopkins writes in his memoir released on November 4:
"I hope my daughter knows that my door is always open to her. I want her to be well and happy."
Anthony Hopkins expresses a heartfelt desire for healing and connection with his daughter, balancing acceptance with hope in his memoir.
