O’Reilly lays into himself after latest Preds loss: ‘Can’t make a six-foot pass to save my life’

O’Reilly Criticizes Himself After Preds Loss

Nashville Predators veteran Ryan O’Reilly took responsibility for the team's recent 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, where he scored the only goal for Nashville.

O’Reilly expressed dissatisfaction with his gameplay, stating:

"Centre, turn the puck over everywhere, can’t make a six-foot pass to save my life."

He added that if he continues to play poorly, the team's success will be limited. Despite scoring 309 goals and accumulating 834 points over 1,168 career games, and winning the Stanley Cup in 2019, O’Reilly was harsh on his performance this season, with six goals and ten points in 16 games.

Reflections on Past Performance and Season Challenges

O’Reilly pointed out that the Predators underperformed last season, finishing third-last in the Western Conference, despite high expectations after the off-season. He called on himself and fellow veterans to lead the team out of its slump:

"The last few games, I’ve been making mistakes left and right. You can’t expect to win like that. There’s frustration everywhere. Guys are working, a lot of guys are working. It falls on leadership and we have to be the ones to get over it."

Additional Context

Nashville also faced controversy in their recent game against Minnesota, where they lost in overtime due to a disputed call after the puck came off its moorings.

O'Reilly’s candid self-criticism highlights the pressure on veterans to lead by example and improve team performance this season.
