A Calgary resident has been charged following a Cochrane RCMP inquiry into a suspected overdose death earlier in October in the Mînî Thnî area on Stoney Nakoda Nations.
Randall Arsenault, 58, faces charges of drug trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He was taken into custody in Calgary on October 29 after a joint effort between the Cochrane RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and the Calgary Police Service’s Gang Suppression Team.
During the arrest, law enforcement officers confiscated approximately 69.5 grams of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The inquiry began in early October when Cochrane RCMP responded to a suspected overdose fatality in Mînî Thnî. The CRU initiated an investigation to trace the possible source of the drugs involved, which eventually led them to the Calgary suspect.

This case highlights the collaboration between Cochrane RCMP and Calgary Police in addressing drug trafficking linked to a tragic overdose in the Stoney Nakoda Nations region.
