If you plan to visit the Rockies this weekend, be prepared for more than just hiking boots; a snowsuit may be necessary. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a snowfall warning for Alberta’s mountain areas.
Heavy, wet snow is expected in Banff and near Lake Louise starting Friday evening and continuing through Saturday night. Snow accumulation could reach between 10 and 15 centimetres over 24 hours.
“Travel will likely be challenging. Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” the report warned.
For November's weather forecast in Alberta, consult the ECCC weather information portal for the latest watches, warnings, and statements.
