Robbie Williams has resurrected the iconic TV show The Word for the music video of his latest single, "Pretty Face," from his upcoming album Britpop.
The Word was a groundbreaking cultural phenomenon in the 1990s, featuring eclectic musical acts during its prime-time Friday evening slot on Channel 4 from 1990 to 1995. Although Williams never performed on the original show, he now pays homage by setting his video in that era.
“This is my ‘DeLorean Moment’ back to 1995 .. The Word was the late-night gateway to so many – Nirvana, Oasis, Happy Mondays… If BRITPOP is the album I would have made, then THIS would have been the TV show…. now a (virtual) reality.”
"Pretty Face" is the fourth single from Britpop, following "Rocket," "Spies," and "Human." The album, released on February 6, 2026, features collaborations with Chris Martin of Coldplay, Gaz Coombes from Supergrass, and Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath. Although initially scheduled for release on October 3, the album's launch was postponed to February.
Summary: Robbie Williams creatively channels 1990s culture by reviving The Word in his "Pretty Face" music video, promoting his collaborative album Britpop set for early 2026 release.
