Robbie Williams has effectively taken a nostalgic step back to 1995 in his latest video for the song “Human,” which also features Jesse and Joy. Reflecting on his new album, Williams shared:
“I set out to create the album that I wanted to write and release after I left Take That in 1995. It was the peak of Britpop and a golden age for British Music. I’ve worked with some of my heroes on this album; it’s raw, there are more guitars and it’s an album that’s even more upbeat and anthemic than usual. There’s some ‘Brit’ in there and there’s certainly some ‘pop’ too – I’m immensely proud of this as a body of work and I’m excited for fans to hear this album.”
This musical return follows the 2024 film Better Man, a quirky biopic showcasing Williams’ cheeky personality. Directed by Michael Gracey, known for The Greatest Showman, the film received an 89% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The movie stands out for its innovative approach: Williams is depicted as a chimpanzee throughout, a creative choice made possible by actor Jonno Davies combined with advanced special effects, giving a fresh twist to the traditional biopic format.
Robbie Williams captures the spirit of mid-90s Britpop with his new album and video, while his unique biopic Better Man creatively highlights his personality through imaginative storytelling.
