Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) and Vossloh have concluded a multi-year framework agreement to supply switches for Italy’s high-speed rail network. The contract, lasting six years, also includes provisions for manganese crossings and related components. The total contract value exceeds EUR 100 million, with the first deliveries expected in 2025.
“High-performance switches are a key component for safe and reliable high-speed transport. We are proud that RFI has once again placed its trust in us and that we can contribute to this forward-looking project,” said Oliver Schuster, CEO of Vossloh AG.
The FS Group (Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane), which owns RFI, continues to invest significantly in expanding and maintaining high-speed rail lines. These efforts aim to boost network capacity, punctuality, and passenger comfort across Italy.
The Italian high-speed rail network already extends over 1,000 kilometers within a broader 16,900 km rail system. Plans are in motion to add new connections, including the Salerno–Reggio Calabria route, identified as a strategic north–south link. Over the past twenty years, Italy’s high-speed rail expansion has become one of Europe’s most ambitious infrastructure initiatives.
Vossloh and RFI have sealed a six-year partnership worth over EUR 100 million to deliver advanced rail switches for Italy’s expanding high-speed network, supporting national infrastructure growth.
