Cian Shields on ‘No-Brainer’ Decision and Re-signing with AIX Racing for 2026

Cian Shields describes staying with AIX Racing for the 2026 season as an obvious choice. The Scottish driver confirmed his re-signing earlier in October and reflected on the valuable lessons learned during his rookie year that are now leading to improvements.

“It has been a difficult year for us, and we’ve made some changes behind the scenes, but I think we’ve learned with every weekend and we’re finally getting somewhere,” Shields explained.

He praised the strong collaboration within the team, emphasizing the seamless work between management, mechanics, and all involved.

“The team works well together, all the management, mechanics and everyone else – it was a no-brainer to stay with them. There was no reason to go anywhere.”

Shields highlighted the importance of stability in positive performance during race weekends.

“I feel comfortable within the team, and stability definitely helps with performing on a weekend. To work with the same people, they know what you like and you know what they like, it definitely helps.”

Throughout the year, Shields and the team have grown more in sync, allowing him to provide better feedback and make greater progress. The presence of experienced teammate Joshua Duerksen has also been beneficial, enabling data comparisons that drive performance improvements.

“The more laps you do in the car, the more you learn.”

This connection and consistent experience have contributed to Shields' development as a driver.

Summary: Cian Shields’ choice to remain with AIX Racing in 2026 reflects his confidence in the team’s synergy and the value of continuity for improving his performance.
