Van de Ven Runs 90m for Stunning Solo Goal

Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven delivered a remarkable solo effort on Tuesday, possibly the goal of the season, in a 4-0 UEFA Champions League victory over Copenhagen. The Dutch defender started his run near his own penalty area, gliding past several opponents before finishing calmly inside the near post with his left foot.

The breathtaking 64th-minute strike, his sixth goal of the season, extended Tottenham’s lead to 3-0 and left fans awestruck by his pace and control.

“To be honest, I saw a little gap in front of me, so I was like: ‘OK, I start dribbling now and see if they catch up,’” Van de Ven said. “I saw the space open up more and more, and then I felt I could go for goal.”
“That could be goal of the season, definitely,” Tottenham manager Thomas Frank said. “It was like Lionel Messi transformed into a centerback.”
