The Clemson Tigers started their season with a commanding 88–38 win over the New Hampshire Wildcats, securing a 1–0 record. The team’s defense stood out early, limiting New Hampshire to a single successful three-pointer out of 18 attempts in the first half.
Head coach Brad Brownell’s squad demonstrated strong depth, with 10 players logging at least 15 minutes each. Clemson accumulated 43 points before halftime, achieving this through collaborative play rather than individual scoring bursts.
“I think you see that a lot of guys can contribute,” Brownell said. “I thought our starters did some really good things establishing the tone and the way we were gonna play.”
Brownell rotated his bench quickly, substituting all five starters within the opening minutes. This approach continued into the second half, where six players scored between seven and eleven points. Every Tiger who took the court scored, except for freshman Chase Thompson.
Redshirt freshman Ace Buckner led all scorers with 18 points in 20 minutes, marking a standout debut. The 50-point margin represented the largest season-opening victory of Brownell’s tenure as Clemson’s head coach.
Clemson’s dominant balance and defensive energy set the tone for its season, showcasing depth and team chemistry in a record-setting victory.
