After a challenging road loss to undefeated Harvard, the Dartmouth Big Green prepare to face the Princeton Tigers in a gritty Saturday matchup. Last week, Dartmouth fell 31-10 to Harvard’s strong offense and defense, which kept the Crimson undefeated.
Despite the loss, Dartmouth showed resilience during the third quarter, signaling potential for recovery in the upcoming game. “We came out of halftime and really battled and put ourselves right back in the game,” said head coach Sammy McCorkle. “But they just out-executed us and we didn’t make enough plays when we did get that momentum going … We talked about it at halftime. Just go out there and take one play at a time, and let’s make sure we just do what we do. I think we did that in the third quarter.”
Chris Corbo ’26, a 2024 All-Ivy First Team tight end, reflected on the offense’s performance:
“We showed that when we play at our best we can execute against anyone. We came out of halftime with a purpose.”
Defensive end Joshua Johnson ’27 highlighted the defense’s increased pressure on the quarterback against Harvard and hopes to maintain that intensity against Princeton:
“With that game, specifically the pressure, we continued to put on the quarterback [which] was a huge thing.”
The Big Green aim to build on the positives from their recent match and regain momentum in their contest with Princeton this Saturday.
Summary: Dartmouth football showed resilience despite a tough loss to Harvard and seeks to leverage improved play on both sides of the ball to challenge Princeton this weekend.
