Elizabeth Olsen Says She Stays Grounded by Journaling Every Morning: 'It's Really Helpful' (Exclusive)

Elizabeth Olsen on Staying Grounded Through Morning Journaling

At a special Los Angeles screening of her new romantic fantasy film Eternity on November 5, actress and producer Elizabeth Olsen shared how journaling every morning keeps her centered and mindful.

“I journal in the morning,” Olsen told PEOPLE, explaining it’s a daily self-care habit she’s maintained for the past three years.

She described the routine as simple but essential. Sometimes she writes about the previous day, other times about books she’s reading — anything that comes to mind.

“Sometimes it's just what happened yesterday. Sometimes it's about what I'm reading. It’s kind of everything,” she said.

Olsen finds that writing by hand helps her calm her thoughts and focus before starting her day, a practice that also benefits her creative process on projects like Eternity and her previous work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“You slow down your thoughts, I think, when you start writing by hand,” she noted. “It's really helpful for work. I have three different journals. I have a work journal that's separate for creating a character.”

The actress attended the event with her husband Robbie Arnett and spoke about the sense of clarity the habit provides her in both personal growth and professional discovery.
