Wendy's announced it will soon shut down around 300 stores across the United States. This move follows an earlier decision to close 150 locations by late 2024.
Wendy's is among the ten most popular fast-food chains in New Jersey, where there are currently 145 Wendy's restaurants, including many in South Jersey. It remains unclear if any New Jersey locations will be affected by the upcoming closures.
"When we look at the system today, we have some restaurants that do not elevate the brand and are a drag from a franchisee financial performance perspective," said Ken Cook during the quarterly earnings call on November 7. "The goal is to address and fix those restaurants."
Cook confirmed the closure process will begin later this year but did not specify which stores or regions will be involved. He also expressed hopes to save some locations.
To locate nearby Wendy's restaurants, customers can use the restaurant locator tool available on the official Wendy's website.
The update was reported by Williams, a Philadelphia-based journalist covering trending topics in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Wendy's plans to close hundreds of stores, including a new round of around 300 locations, but details on New Jersey store closures remain unclear as the company aims to improve overall brand performance.
