Rosemead marks the first feature from cinematographer-turned-director Eric Lin. It was officially selected for the Tribeca Film Festival and won awards at the Bentonville and Locarno Film Festivals, earning critical acclaim before its theatrical debut.
Inspired by a true story, the film follows a sick woman who resorts to increasingly desperate actions to protect her troubled teenage son, portrayed by Lawrence Shou. As his behavior worsens and pressure intensifies within their Chinese American community, the boundary between love and survival becomes blurred.
The screenplay was written by Marilyn Fu, with producers Mynette Louie, Andrew D. Corkin, and Lucy Liu herself. The executive production team features Theo James, Julia Xu, San Demetrio Arte, Chris Argentieri, Frank Shyong, Jamie Lin, Peng Zhao, Chiling Lin, Je Yang, Daniela Ruiz, and Julia Gouw.
