Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling announced the passing of Brian Mackney, a respected alumnus and legend of Maple Leaf Wrestling in Toronto. Scott D’Amore’s promotion shared a biography highlighting Brian’s life and career alongside a photo of the late wrestler.
Known as "Silent" Brian Mackney, he was more than just a journeyman wrestler. He captured the hearts of Toronto fans during the 1970s and 1980s and gained international attention by competing in Japan with New Japan Pro Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling.
Remarkably, Brian achieved all this as a deaf person, demonstrating that his hearing impairment never held him back. He overcame his challenges and reached milestones many could not.
MAPLE LEAF PRO is saddened to hear of the passing today of “Silent” Brian Mackney, a Maple Leaf Wrestling alumni and legend in Toronto.
We were humbled to have “Silent” Brian in attendance this past May for our event at the former Maple Leaf Gardens and we are proud of his place and legacy in Maple Leaf Wrestling history.
We send our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of the Silent Warrior during this time.
Brian Mackney’s career stands as a testament to perseverance and talent, leaving an indelible mark on Toronto wrestling history.
