Avalon Airport is set to undergo significant upgrades before launching new international Jetstar flights in March 2026. The improvements aim to enhance both international and domestic terminals and improve passenger experience.
The airport will introduce its first dedicated public bus route in the coming months to improve access and complement the existing SkyBus service.
“The new bus route will deliver better public transport options for Avalon and ensure improved access for thousands of workers and passengers every day, together with the additional services on the Geelong Line delivered last year,” said Victoria’s Minister for Public Transport, Gabrielle Williams.
The new Route 18 bus service will connect Avalon Airport to Lara Station on the Geelong train line, operating seven days a week.
“This infrastructure will set the foundation for even more flights in regional Victoria for years to come,” said Victoria’s Minister for Regional Development, Jaclyn Symes.
The upgrades are expected to create around 80 new jobs and boost the regional visitor economy.
Melbourne’s second major airport recently inaugurated an upgraded freight facility and is preparing for Jetstar’s Bali service starting next year.
Summary: Avalon Airport's comprehensive upgrade, including terminal expansion, improved transport links, and job creation, prepares it for a major international relaunch next year.
