Canada’s Rachel Homan celebrated a historic achievement by capturing her 20th Grand Slam of Curling title, extending her own record. She earned the victory over Switzerland’s Team Silvana Tirinzoni with a 7–4 win in Sunday’s final at the KIOTI GSOC Tahoe.
The Ottawa-based team — skip Rachel Homan, third Tracy Fleury, second Emma Miskew, and lead Sarah Wilkes — went undefeated through the tournament, finishing with a 7–0 record. This flawless performance also secured them a $42,000 share of the prize purse.
"Yeah, it's an unbelievable feeling, especially winning a game that was a battle out there for both teams," Homan said. "It's just really fun to play such an amazing team, and being able to pull out the win is an awesome feeling."
This was the third consecutive Grand Slam women’s final between Homan and Tirinzoni, with Homan emerging victorious in all three. The matchup highlighted the intense competition between the world’s top two-ranked teams.
Despite the loss, Switzerland’s Team Tirinzoni — with fourth Alina Pätz, second Carole Howald, and lead Selina Witschonke — had a strong week, earning $34,000 in prize money. Tirinzoni’s team now stands at 18–3 in Grand Slam play this season, with all three losses coming against Homan in finals.
The Swiss squad opened the final with the hammer and aimed to avoid a repeat of last month’s CO-OP Tour Challenge, where a missed shot in the first end led to a steal of four points for Homan.
Rachel Homan’s unbeaten run at the KIOTI GSOC Tahoe secured her record 20th Grand Slam title and reaffirmed her team’s dominance in women’s curling.
