A $340 million agreement has been reached between Maryland and Constellation Energy, clearing the way for the long-term re-licensing and continued operation of the 573MW Conowingo Dam.
The agreement, announced by Maryland Governor Wes Moore, establishes enforceable water quality standards and resolves years of litigation, ensuring the continued operation of the nearly century-old hydroelectric facility.
“The Chesapeake Bay is the keystone to Maryland’s prosperity,”
said Gov. Moore. The deal funds major environmental improvements along the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay.
