A state-record fish was caught by Caleb Bell, certified by Tennessee officials as an Alabama bass.

The fish is a subspecies of spotted bass, considered invasive in Tennessee.

“Unfortunately, Alabama Bass are an invasive species that was introduced illegally in Tennessee,”

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reported that the fish weighed 7 pounds 3 ounces, three ounces heavier than the previous record.

Caleb Bell, a local fishing guide, caught the record-breaking bass from Parksville Reservoir in Polk County.
