Inside the Colorado factory where AtmosZero is electrifying steam

AtmosZero's Innovative Approach to Steam Production

Many facilities rely on steam, but traditional methods of producing it are CO2-intensive. AtmosZero is working to scale production of its heat-pump boiler to help! decarbonize industrial heat.

In Loveland, Colorado, the startup's 83,000-square-foot facility is where the magic happens. On a sunny September morning, a visit to the plant revealed the inner workings of AtmosZero's novel steam-producing heat pumps.

The all-electric technology is meant to replace the gas-burning boilers that factories rely on to make everything from Cheez Whiz to notepaper to beer.

Todd Bandhauer, the startup's chief technology officer and cofounder, explained the technology from the factory floor, highlighting a key component: a grapefruit-sized compressor wheel that helps produce the heat needed to make steam with AtmosZero's tech.
