Vicksburg officials will open a 50-year-old time capsule on Friday as part of the city's bicentennial celebration at the Warren County Courthouse.
Fifty years ago, Peggy Sue Fulghum watched as a time capsule was buried during the nation's bicentennial celebration. The capsule was to be opened when the city marked its 200th year, which is now.
The unearthing will take place at 12:30 p.m. on October 17 at the Warren County courthouse. Fulghum and her daughter, Jennifer Fulghum Lewis, will attend the event.
I am so glad my daughter is going to be able to come, since she was the youngest one to sign, said Fulgham, referring to a Bicentennial scroll created by the Vicksburg Bicentennial Commission.
