Robert Irwin's Emotional Dance Dedication
Robert Irwin, a 21-year-old wildlife conservationist, dedicated his dance to all mothers and anyone experiencing grief after loss on "Dancing with the Stars" dedication night, honoring his mom, Terri Irwin.
Backstage, Robert admitted it was challenging to process his emotions during the dance, including grief over the loss of his late father, Steve Irwin.
"It was really hard to express that and really hard to actually get through a dance while internally you’re processing and getting all of these emotions out there,"
Robert told our entertainment reporter. The emotional contemporary dance ended with Terri joining her son, leaving the audience and judges in tears.
"It feels like a weight lifted in a way."
The judges, including Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli, and Carrie Ann Inaba, were moved to tears by the performance.
