The state's new top cop, Incoming NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon, has promised to send more police officers to Moree after visiting the town.
Commissioner Lanyon met with shopkeepers, leaders, including Moree Shire Mayor Susannah Pearse, and crime victim Mick Cikota, to "get the pulse from the community and find out how they feel about crime".

Mick Cikota, a motel owner, was allegedly stabbed by a teenager at his motel in September after a break-in.
The extra police presence is expected to address the town's crime concerns.
