Tavon Cain, accused of killing Korey Sims and wounding three others in 2024, had his bond revoked by Judge Toni Terrett after a new arrest.
Cain will remain in custody awaiting a grand jury indictment. He was initially arrested and charged with first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault after a dispute over a cell phone led to the shooting of Sims and three other people in August 2024.
Sims was shot in the head and died at the scene, while the others were shot in the chest, leg, and foot.
In September 2025, while Cain was out on bond, a Mississippi State Highway Patrol officer stopped a 2008 Honda Accord on I-20 near Pelahatchie and noticed a man wearing a ski mask, later identified as Cain. The officer detected the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle and saw a gang tattoo on Cain's neck. Before the officer could finish questioning Cain, he fled on foot.
