A Toyota Highlander owner experienced an oil pressure light issue just 500 miles after a dealer oil change.
The problem was caused by an improperly torqued drain plug, leaving the vehicle's engine without oil.
Donna Thompson Field reported on the Toyota Highlander Owners Club Facebook page: "I have a 2023 Highlander Platinum, with 11,007 miles. I took it in for an oil change less than 500 miles ago at the dealership. I noticed the oil pressure light flickering, so I checked the oil, and none was showing on the dipstick."
The dealership acknowledged the mistake, stating they forgot to properly torque the drain plug, and are now adding oil and cleaning the underside of the vehicle.
The question remains whether simply adding oil is enough to fix the issue or if there is permanent damage to the engine.
