The Vancouver Canucks secured a 4-3 overtime win over the visiting Edmonton Oilers in NHL action Sunday at Rogers Arena.
With injured defenceman Quinn Hughes among seven players sidelined by injury, Kiefer Sherwood scored two goals, including the winner, to lead the Canucks to victory. Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson also scored for the Canucks (5-5-0), while goalie Thatcher Demko made 26 saves.
Leon Draisaitl (2) and Jack Roslovic replied for the Oilers (4-5-1), with Calvin Pickard stopping 23 shots in the loss.
Boeser opened the scoring 15:42 into the first period, taking a feed from Evander Kane and backhanding a shot past Pickard for his fourth goal of the year. The Oilers outshot the Canucks 13-8 in the period but could not beat Demko.
The Canucks will host the New York Rangers on Tuesday.
Boeser has nine goals in his last eight games versus Edmonton.
