Rolls-Royce Achieves World First with Methanol Engine
Rolls-Royce Power Systems has successfully tested a high-speed marine engine powered exclusively by methanol, a milestone in climate-neutral propulsion solutions.
"This is a genuine world first," said Dr. Jörg Stratmann, CEO of Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG.
The test was conducted on a bench in Friedrichshafen, Germany, as part of the meOHmare research project, funded by the German Government.
The company aims to reduce CO2 emissions and expand its role in sustainable propulsion systems.
