Belleville Welcomes New Physician
The City of Belleville has entered a new agreement through its Family Physician Recruitment Program, as announced by Mayor Neil Ellis on Monday in council.
Mayor Ellis stated,
I believe this is number 23 if I am correct, referring to the number of new physicians recruited to practice in the city during this term of council.
This new agreement aims to counter the doctor shortage experienced by up to 15,000 residents, bringing the total number of doctors recruited by the city to over 60 since the program's introduction in 2006.
In addition to the new physicians, the city has also recruited eight new nurse practitioners.
