Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi announced that the country is entering a new era of accountability, innovation, and political will in the fight against tuberculosis.
Speaking at the relaunch of Parliament’s TB Caucus in Cape Town,
we cannot continue treating TB as a background disease, it has been with us for centuries, it is curable, and yet it still kills more people than any other infectious disease, said Motsoaledi.
The platform will unite MPs, government departments, and civil society to coordinate efforts against the country’s leading infectious killer.
Motsoaledi stated that the relaunch signals a renewed political commitment to ensure that TB receives the same urgency and visibility as other major pandemics such as HIV and COVID-19.
