Officials Discuss FLOST Before Nov. 4 Election

Decatur County voters are being asked to approve a special 1% sales tax to reduce property taxes paid to the county, as well as to Bainbridge and Climax.

A lower millage rate would reduce property taxes on homes, businesses, farms, and other properties.

FLOST taxes are a win-win for property owners, bar none.

According to Decatur County Board of Commissioners Chairman Pete Stephens and Bainbridge Mayor Edward Reynolds, the proposed tax aims to raise revenue to rollback the county's and cities' millage rates.

Author's summary: FLOST aims to reduce property taxes.
